Hotel Fairs
Fairs in tourist and hotel industry are taking place regularly. Many of them have become significant events for the entire industry. Such huge events like World Travel Market in London or ITB in Berlin are some sort of <<barometer>>, which is used by many major players of hotel market to adjust their business. The latest innovation of hotel business can be seen on such fairs.
Fairs, related to the hotel business, can be divided into two major groups. The first group – common tourist fairs, where besides hotels, the other areas of tourism are represented. The second group – the actual hotel fairs, where the technical components: hotel equipment, hotel furniture, different methods of staff training – are taken into consideration.
At the common tourist fairs hotel are represented in the separate pavilion or via tourist agencies and tourist operators. Mainly, all the major tourist fairs are held in spring or autumn. Such fairs are more intended for hotel clients, than hotel business representatives. These fairs are attractive for the tourists because many of them provide an opportunity to book a hotel room with a big discount. Among the most famous world tourist fairs – WTM in London, ITB in Berlin, ITB-Asia in Singapore, World Travel Fair in Shanghai and The New York Times Travel Show in the USA.
Fairs, completely devoted to hotel business, are mainly intended for the specialists. Particular companies, hotels and hotel owners share their experience, study business rivals and the latest innovation in the hotel industry there. Often specialized hotel fairs also cover restaurant business, too. Among the biggest European events of this type: Sirha fair in Lion, France; Hospitability in Birmingham and Hoga in Nurnberg.
