Starwood opens a new hotel in Qatar

Hotel Chain Starwood Hotels & Resorts, which is the operator of extra-class hotels around the world, opens a new hotel in the capital of Qatar, Doha. Starwood Company reported about the opening of a new hotel immediately after the conclusion of the International Hotel Investment Forum, which was held in Berlin from March 9 to 11 and attended by representatives of Starwood.

The hotel, which was represented by Starwood, will be called W Doha Hotel & Residences. Hotel in Qatar will the first in the Middle East that represents a new trademark - W by Starwood. Brand W – these are luxury boutique hotels of a new type, which combine the highest level of comfort, innovative design and hi-tech «filling» of rooms. Starwood promotes the hotels under the brand name W all over the world. Boutique hotels W are already open or planed to be open in Athens, Paris, Barcelona, St. Petersburg, Bali and Thailand.

The opening of the hotel in Doha demonstrates confidence of Starwood in the development of new markets, even in times of crisis. Despite the decline in the profitability of the hotel business, in 2009, Starwood plans to open about 100 new hotels worldwide. Starwood continues expansion in the Middle East and Europe, too. Here, the company plans to build about 50 new hotels by 2012.
