This unique tournament attracts the attention of hundreds golf amateurs and thousands fans, which flow to Iceland from all over the world. Located 350 kilometers north to Reykjavik, the city of Akureyri and its golf club hold the open golf championship within the Polar circle for the 23rd time already. The fisrst Arctic Open Golf Championship was organized in Akureyri in 1986.
Arctic Open Golf Championship takes place in Iceland during the northern summer. The golf course in Akureyri is located in only 60 kilometers from the Polar circle. Such location allows the participants of the tournament to compete with each other till 3 am. The sun shines twenty-four-hour during Arctic Open Golf Championship.
The cost of participation in tournament so far is 320 euros. Amateurs as well as professionals can participate in Arctic Open Golf Championship.
