Spanish hotel chains announced the merging

NH Hotels and Hesperia Hotels, two major Spanish hotel chains, announced that henceforth they will implement the joint management of hotel property in their possession. Thus, the Spanish hotel market will get the biggest player in the segment of city hotels.

According to the terms of agreement, hotel chain NH Hotels will receive control over the 51 hotels owned by Hesperia. In turn, top management of Hesperia chain will get a seat in the board of directors of NH Hotels. After signing the agreement, the hotel chain NH Hotels will increase the number of hotels under its control up to 400.

Either way, the merging of the Spanish hotel chains - NH Hotels and the Hesperia - has not yet received the final clearance. Company has not chosen yet a new name for the established association. As expected, the new name of the network, as well as other financial aspects, will be settled by the parties in the next two months.

According to the official press release, the new merger with NH Hotels will help Hesperia to strengthen the strategy of market leadership in Europe in a segment of urban hotels, avoiding significant financial investments, and without borrowing. In turn, Hesperia will receive a share in NH Hotels exceeding 25%.

At present NH Hotels - is the third European company in the segment of business hotels. Hotels of NH Hotels chain can be found in 22 countries, including America and Africa. Prior to the merging with Hesperia NH Hotels owned 349 hotels, in addition 54 were on various stages of construction. One of the main trends in the development of services for NH Hotels is high-class organization of restaurant business. This can be confirmed by the recently signed agreement on cooperation between NH Hotels and the owner of the famous restaurant El Bulli Ferran Adria.

Hesperia hotel chain is represented mainly in the Spanish market. Among the 51 hotels of the brands, 47 are located in Spain, 1 in London, 1 in Andorra and 2 in Venezuela. Hesperia hotel chain owns luxury hotels in Madrid and Barcelona, as well as hotel complexes on the Mediterranean coast of Spain. Some restaurants of Hesperia, since 2000, are represented by high-class cuisine. Thus, the restaurant of the hotel Hesperia Madrid got 2 stars of the prestigious restaurant guide Michelin.
