New hotels in Rio de Janeiro will be constructed by Windsor hotel chain

Windsor hotel chain announced its intention to build at least five hotels in Rio de Janeiro in anticipation of the 2014 FIFA World Cup and the 2016 Olympics, which will take place in Brazil. Windsor Company intends to complete the construction of all the hotels by 2012. The capacity of new Windsor hotels in Rio will exceed 4000 rooms. The total cost of hotel construction project will be more than 112 million euros.

Windsor Hotel chain naturally expects growth of interest to Brazil from tourists as a natural result. While the time of the two global sporting events is nearing, Windsor expects an increase of room load in the near future.

In order to successfully cope with the tourist flow, which will for sure flood Brazil during the period of such large-scale events, Rio alone will have to increase its hotel room fund up to 48 thousand rooms. Today hotels in Rio offer only 22 thousand rooms.

To date, Brazil's hotel market is attractive not only for local hoteliers, but also for foreign companies. Such giants as IHG and Hilton do not conceal that they would be interested to increase their presence in the management of hotels in Brazil. The main sweet spot for multinational corporations - is, of course, Rio. Nevertheless, new hotels by Marriott, Holiday Inn, Accor and other well-known hotel chains can also be expected in other Brazilian cities where the matches of the final part of the 2014 FIFA World Cup will be held. Belo Horizonte, Manaus, Sao Paulo, Fortaleza, Recife, Brasilia and others are among them.

To date, the largest foreign hotel chain in the Brazilian market is Accor Company, which is represented by a total of 141 hotels.
