Marriott intends to open new hotels in Africa

Marriott hotel chain intends to expand its representation at the hotel market of Africa. Marriott is going to open five new hotels in Morocco, Algeria and Ghana in 2010-2012. Africa, as well as Asia, is considered to be the priority directions of development of the hotel chain.
New hotels will represent the following brands of Marriott Corporation: Marriott Hotels & Resorts and Marriott Executive Apartments. The capacity of the new hotels will exceed 1000 rooms. The total number of hotel projects by Marriott today in the region is 44 hotels in different readiness conditions. A number of Marriott hotels are still at the planning phase, some hotels are already being erected.
Among the hotels, which will appear in Africa in the nearest future, according to Marriott, are:
- Marriot hotel in Algeria. The total number of rooms – 227.
- Tourist residence complex Algiers Marriott Executive Apartments, with a total of 180 rooms.
The construction of both hotels is intended to be finished by 2012. Hotel, as well as apartment complex, will be located 3 kilometers north from the Algiers International Airport.
- Accra Marriott Hotel in the capital of Ghana – Accra. Hotel will have 209 rooms. Accra Marriott Hotel will be located not far from the Kotoka International Airport. The opening of the hotel is planned for late 2010.
- Marrakech Marriott Palm Golf Hotel – first Marriot hotel in Morocco will open its doors in 2012. The hotel will be a part of a large tourist zone, which will also include a beach villas complex and a golf course. A special quality of the hotel is its environmental friendliness - Marrakech Marriott Palm Golf Hotel has received a certificate of "Haute Qualite Environmentale", confirming the high standards of Marriott in the protection of the environment.
- A new hotel in Egypt Sahl Hasheesh Marriott Beach Resort Marriott will be represented by the company after its rebranding in 2011. New Marriott hotel in Egypt, will be located in the building of the former The Old Palace Resort Hotel.

Chain of luxury hotels Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts became another major international player, which decided to enter the Indonesian hotel market. The company announced its plans to open a new hotel on Bali. Mövenpick Resort & Spa Jimbaran will be the first hotel of the network in Indonesia.
