Hotels in Vienna: a record number of guests in October

The total number of nights, spent by tourists in hotels of the capital of Austria, as well as in other types of tourist real estate, such as a guesthouse and apartments, exceeded the figure of 935 000 stays. This was a record figure for hotels in Vienna for all time of the calculation.
During 2009, the capital of Austria experienced the decline of tourist activity. Since January 2009, hotels in Vienna showed one of the worst results of occupancy in their history. Data about the number of stays for the period January-October 2009 show the decline in demand for more than 4%. At the same time, according to analyst, this decline is attributed to a surge of demand for hotels in Austria in 2008, when the country together with Switzerland hosted European Football Championship.
Anyways, the latest figures released by the tourism authorities of Austria, showed some improvement of the situation in the hospitality market of one of the leading tourist cities in the world.
According to the Austrian publication Wiener Zeitung, the growing popularity of Vienna is noted among tourists from the United States, Japan, France and Britain. At the same time, tourists from Russia, Germany and the Austrians themselves have begun to use the services of hotels in Vienna much less. There is also a great demand for hotels in Vienna from the tourists from countries that are not included in the main pool of providers of tourist traffic. Thus, tourists from Norway booked in average 69% more rooms in the Austrian capital than in the last year. More than by 50% increased the growth of tourists flow from China, by 30% - from India.
Growing demand for hotels in Vienna was observed in all segments of hotel property. The Austrian authorities in their report highlighted the growth of booking in the segment of luxury hotels in Vienna, including such famous names as Hotel Sacher, Le Meridien Vienna, Falkensteiner Palace and others. Earlier in this niche was noted the most significant decrease among the hotels of all classes in Vienna.
