A new luxury hotel complex was opened in the resort Pyeongchang, Korea. It was there, where InterContinental Alpensia Pyeongchang hotel - another novelty by an international hotel giant-was presented to the general public.

Pyeongchang resort has received a wide popularity outside of Korea as a candidate city to host the Winter Olympics in 2014. That time Sochi has won the status of the capital of Winter Olympic Games. At the same time, many considered Pyeongchang one the most probable favorites. Either way, the popularity, which Pyeongchang managed to gain, brings today a number of hotel developers to the resort.

The new hotel by InterContinental - it is a spacious complex of 238 rooms, which provide guests with various options, including children's club, several halls for negotiations, spa salons, and concert stage in the open air. A ski holiday, as the main area of activity of the Korean resort, is reflected in the ski park, which is located in the InterContinental Alpensia Pyeongchang. In addition, Ocean 700 water park and a golf course are located at the territory of the hotel.

According to the InterContinental, the opening of the hotel in one of the major ski resorts in Korea is an honor for the company, which now will be presented in Asia not only by hotels for summer holidays.

Strategic partnership of InterContinental and PyeongChang is not accidental. After losing the race for the title of the capital of Olympic Games 2010 and 2014, Pyeongchang, however, intends to continue its struggle in the future. The resort has already enlisted the support of the Korean Government, which will provide maximum assistance in promoting the PyeongChang’s application for the coming in 2011 IOC vote on the candidacy of the capital of the Olympic Games 2018. Many experts already consider Pyeongchang the most obvious candidate, despite the strong applications of the French resort – Annecy and the Bavarian capital - Munich.
