An old hotel in London - The Stafford - will now represent Kempinski brand in the segment of luxury hotel real estate of the British capital. On February 1, 2010 the hotel received a new name - The Stafford London by Kempinski. Henceforth service in it will be in conformity with the standards of one of the leading European hotel chains.

The Stafford London by Kempinski is located in the heart of London, at St James's Square, between Green Park and St James' Park. New hotel in the portfolio of Kempinski will offer its guests 105 rooms housed in three historic buildings: the main building, "The Carriage House" and "The Stafford Mews".

The Stafford - is one of the oldest hotels in London. The transfer of The Stafford under the management of a German hotel company means the appearance of the first Kempinski hotel in London since 2008.

According to hotel’s general manager Stuart Procter, today for The Stafford it is hard to imagine any other hotel chain so close in spirit otherwise than Kempinski.

Reputation as one of the most luxurious hotels in London was acquired by The Stafford not only due to the elegant interiors and impeccable service. The hotel has one of the oldest wine cellars in London, which age is more than 3 centuries. Today in the cellar of The Stafford a total of 20 000 bottles of various wines is stored.

In order to fully meet the standards of Kempinski, the hotel will soon experience a large-scale reconstruction, which will affect all public areas, corridors and 24 rooms in the main building of The Stafford. It is expected that maintenance of the hotel will be completed by 2011.

By making the London hotel a part of the chain Kempinski has once again confirmed its status as one of the leading hotel chains in Europe. Founded in 1897, one of the oldest hotel chains in the world now has hotels throughout Europe, including Moscow, Bruges, Berlin, Budapest and Istanbul.
