Estonian shipping company will open a hotel in Riga

Estonian company AS Tallink Grupp presents a hotel in Riga under its own brand. Tallink Hotel Riga will receive its first guests on April 15, 2010.
AS Tallink Grupp is known as one of the largest shipping companies in Estonia. Recently Tallink has begun to provide its services on the hotel market. The company operates 4 hotels in Tallinn: Tallink City Hotel, Tallink Spa and Conference Hotel, Tallink Express Hotel and Pirita Top Spa Hotell. Hotel in Riga will be the first hotel project of the Tallinn transport giant outside Estonia.
The main investor of the project is the Estonian Financial Holding AS Infortar. The project costs in total 30 million euros. The future hotel will be located in the heart of Riga, on the Elizabetes Street, where there are located embassies and consulates of several countries.
Riga for Tallink is one of the key ports. The company offers several flights from Riga to Stockholm, Helsinki and other cities of the Baltic Sea. In 2009 the Tallink ferry took aboard the millionth passenger on the Riga-Stockholm flight. Against this background, the company’s intentions to open a branded hotel in the Latvian capital look like a natural continuation of the company's policy to fixate not only on the maritime transport market, but also in the hotel segment of the Baltic States.
The new hotel will be designed for 256 rooms. It received the status of "4 stars". New Tallink in Riga will both for the business travelers and for ordinary travelers. Room features meet the latest requirements of our time: there is Wi-Fi, direct telephone dial, plasma TV panel. The cost of rooms at the hotel starts from 49 euros. The hotel has an advantageous location - it is just 5 minutes walk from the Old Town of Riga and the business center of the capital of Latvia. Among the features of the new hotel is a conference hall for 200 seats.
The construction of the hotel in Riga was conducted by the SIA Merks Company, a subsidiary company of the Estonian construction company.
