Hotels in Romania are ready to reduce prices if the demand for their services in 2010 will decline. It was announced by the Romanian Minister for Regional Development and Tourism Elena Udrea at opened on Thursday 25 March 2010 Romanian tourist exhibition in Bucharest.

Today, prices for services of hotels in Romania are not regulated by the state. Rates for the hotel services in the country are set by the market. At the same time the Government of Romania wants to implement certain mechanisms of regulation for the Romanian hotels. However, in the case of a stable demand it is very difficult to convince the hoteliers to accept the tariff reductions.

According to the minister Romanian hotels in the summer season of 2010 will maintain the same level of prices. It first comes for hotels on the Black Sea coast. Mid-July would serve as an indicator of reduction. As noted by Mrs. Udrea, if by that time the demand for holidays in Romania will continue to fall, it is likely that hotels will resort to big discounts to attract tourists.

State support for a hotel sector of Romania will be directed primarily at the seaside region. Here in the next few years it is planned to demolish numerous hotels built during the time of Ceausescu.

The Government of Romania in 2010 intends to enhance support for the tourism industry of the country. Thus, if in 2009 the stare investments in Romania were received in total by 49 projects in 2010 according to preliminary forecasts this figure will be more than 100 projects. At the same time, officials stress that the benefits and financial investments will be available only for the projects that can be profitable in the near future.

In the current tourism exhibition Romanian Tourism Fair are involved about 240 companies. Separate stands at the exhibition are also represented by 30 hotels and hotel operators. Among the countries officially represented at the exhibition are Bulgaria, Turkey, Greece and Cyprus.
