Hotels in Russia: Accor plans the expansion
Accor plans to work actively in the Russian hotel market

On October 26, 2010 an international hotel chain Accor presented in Moscow its extensive portfolio of hotel brands. Accor’s presentation officially launched the campaign of one of the largest hotel chains in the world on expanding its presence in Russia and CIS countries.

During the presentation Accor representatives talked about their strategy to strengthen its presence in the global hotel market, and intention to become of the three largest international hotel operators.

In the presentation took part representatives of top management of Accor - Deputy Director General for Europe, Middle East and Africa, general director of Sofitel Worldwide Jann Cayer and managing director of Accor in Russia, Accor Hospitality Alexis Delaroff.

Alexis Delaroff noted that Accor markets in Russia and CIS countries were and still remain strategically important. Currently in Russia there are 8 hotels under the management of Accor (1840 rooms), most of which are very successful (especially Ibis hotel brand, its attendance in Moscow is 80% or more, and in the regions - 60-70%) . Slightly lower rates were demonstrated by the Novotel in Yekaterinburg, where due to the opening of several other hotels on the eve of SCO and BRIC summits in 2009, the proposal exceeded the demand.

In 2011, Accor will open six new hotels in Russia and CIS countries, including Ibis Nizhny Novgorod, Ibis Samara, Ibis Yaroslavl, Ibis Kiev, Mercure Moscow and the upper class hotel Sofitel Ashgabat in Turkmenistan. During this year, Accor has signed 37 new contracts with hotel owners, According to which it will manage 6,850 more hotel rooms, including the Sofitel Hotel in Ashgabat. It still negotiates on 45 new projects in Russia, which may result in another 8,000 hotel rooms that will come under the control of Accor.

In the near future is expected the increase of the company's presence among the hotels of Moscow. At the same time, Accor is actively expanding its presence in other major cities: Alma-Ata (all brands), Yerevan (Novotel), Tbilisi (Novotel and Ibis), Baku (Novotel), Minsk (Novotel and Ibis), Murmansk and other Russian cities with population over 1 million people. At the final stage of approval is the contract on gaining control over two Accor hotels in "Rose Khutor", the largest ski resort of Sochi.

"The Accor group has ambitious plans to achieve leadership in the Russian market, CIS countries and the globe, we have all the necessary resources for that, despite increasing competition, to achieve these goals - said Jann Cayer - Among the benefits of the company is a broad portfolio of brands from budget hotels to luxury hotels, a 45-year experience, qualified staff and effective management. All this allows us to look into the future. "

Accor Group is the undisputed leader in the hotel business in Europe and occupies the fourth line in the world ranking. It is also a global leader in providing services to corporate clients for promotion and development of the staff. Today the Accor group operates in more than 100 countries and employs about 500,000 people.
