In Abu Dhabi will appear the region's first "green hotel". Internet publication 4Hoteliers.com with reference to the Sheikh of Abu Dhabi, Sultan Bin Tahnoon Al Nahyan, who is also the chairman of Abu Dhabi Tourism Authority, has reported on beginning of the preparatory work for construction of a new "green" five-star Resort Hotel in the natural reserve Al Ain Wildlife Park & Resort or AWPR.

The statement on the beginning of construction of the new facility, designed to raise environmental standards in the hotel industry to a new level, was sounded in the welcoming speech of the Sheikh Sultan Bin Tahnoon, which he addressed to the guests of the World Green Tourism exhibition in Abu Dhabi at the opening ceremony on November 22 2010. His Royal Highness told the audience: "We want this hotel to be the model of hospitality into account environmental issues. It is here where guests can stay and relax in complete harmony with nature and environment. "

Basic principles of ecology, which will be used in construction of Resort Hotel have been developed as a result of cooperation with the Urban Planning Council, or UPC) of Abu Dhabi and is part of the Green Hotels, which is the basis for a Environment, Health and Safety Management System system or EHSMS.

His Highness said that these basic principles are intended to complement the Estidama Pearl Rating classification system for hotels, adopted by the UPC, and are the first government guidelines for construction of new hotels. Thus, in a short time all the new hotels in Abu Dhabi in addition to the star classification would have a rating of environmental performance.

Sheikh Sultan said: "The hotel in the nature reserve Ain Wildlife Park & Resort will be constructed in accordance with the most stringent environmental requirements. It will become the first hotel to be classified under the new "pearl" system of Estidama. We believe it will be honored with four pearls. When the experiment will be completed, ADTA will include new "green" standards into their system of hotel classification.

Also, according to His Highness, "green" tourism, which is now perceived by many as a niche product, in the near future will become the new standard for tourism businesses. Thus, the implementation of this pilot project to build eco hotel in Ain Wildlife Park & Resort is the "beginning of a big shift in the prevailing business practices.
