The joint "green" initiative of Hertz and Starwood Hotels & Resorts

The world's largest car rental agency Hertz Corporation and one of the leading hotel operators Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, Inc., which owns such famous brands as St. Regis ®, The Luxury Collection ®, Sheraton ®, Westin ®, Four Points ® by Sheraton, Le Méridien ® and others, announced the launch of a joint environmental initiative in the framework of Global EV, developed by the mentioned agency.
In the framework of the initiative Hertz company in North America will provide for all-electric or hybrid cars with charging from the grid for the use by the guests of the hotels belonging to Element Hotels, Aloft Hotels and Four Points by Sheraton Hotels. The company also intends to establish an appropriate infrastructure for recharging the rental cars.
Senior vice president of Starwood Hotels & Resorts, Brian McGuinness commented on it: "This partnership is a perfect complement of Starwood environmental initiatives ... New technologies that with using of the Hertz EV program will be available for our guests demonstrate our shared commitment to make operation of electric vehicles practical. Moreover, what is important, it makes all us think about the importance of using clean energy. "
Hertz Global EV is the leading program for promotion of all-electric and hybrid vehicles, including infrastructure development facilitating the use of transport. Moreover, a unit of Hertz Global EV intends to become the world's first car rental company offering a wide range of "green" cars across the globe.
New initiative is aimed at different groups of consumers - both private and corporate. Currently, Hertz is developing strategic partnership programs with carmakers, energy companies, municipalities, hotel chains and other interested organizations.
