Starwood hotel corporation plans to open 70-80 new hotels in 2011. This information was announced by the corporation representatives on January 24, 2011 in San Diego (USA) at the American Hotel Investment Summit.

Among the hotels that will be presented this year in the global hotel market there are hotels built from scratch and hotels that will replace the old name for one of the Starwood brands.

The main direction of development of the network will be Asia. In China, India, Thailand and other countries of the region Starwood plans to open about 70% of all hotels planned to be opened in 2011.

China remains the major market in Asia for Starwood. By 2012 the company plans to expand its presence in this country to 115 hotels.

In total the total number of Starwood hotels in Asia in 2011 will grow to 220 hotels.

The second important hotel market for Starwood is the U.S. Here the company is preparing to introduce some 20 new hotels. And a substantial portion of them will be presented by already existing hotels, which will come under Starwood management.

Central and South America are also among the priority areas for Starwood. Here the hotel chain will open five new hotels: in Peru, Panama and Costa Rica.

New Starwood hotels in Europe: here the company is focused on major metropolitan areas. The first hotel under the Aloft brand in 2011 will be presented in London. In addition, in London and Paris in 2011 will be presented design hotels of W - W London and W Paris brands.

In 2011 expansion of Starwood will be focused primarily on the segment of luxury hotels. They will be accounted for about 60%. Among them are Sheraton, Westin and Le Meridien. Among the hotel chains, which Starwood pays much attention, is St. Regis. St. Regis expects in 2011 to open its hundredth anniversary hotel.
