8 Hotels in France became palaces

8 Hotels in France became palaces
Ritz Hotel in Paris was not included in the list of the most luxurious hotels in France

Palace class received 8 luxury hotels in France.

Palace is a top class of the hotel industry in France, which is assigned to exceptional in every sense hotels, which, in addition to the luxurious interior and flawless service, are historic monuments of national importance. In accordance with the new hotel classification in France "Palace" is higher than "five stars". It was adopted in 2009.

Among the hotels in France, which have received such a high rank, dominate hotels from Paris. In recognition of the highest class "palace" title received such hotels as Bristol, Meurice, Plaza Athénée and the Park Hyatt Paris-Vendôme. Hotels from Courchevel are Airelles and Cheval Blanc. Palaces now can be rightfully called hotels Hôtel du Palais at the resort of Biarritz and the Grand-Hôtel, located on the headland of Cap-Ferrat.

It is worth noting that giving "palace" status to only eight hotels perplexed many experts of the French hotel industry. In particular, most notable for the experts was absence among the classified hotels legendary Hotel Ritz Paris and George V. Spokesman for the Dorchester group reported that absence of these hotels in the list questioned the reputation of the entire system of evaluation and competence of the jury, which decided to give the "palace" rank. It is worth noting that Dorchester owns two palace hotels: Meurice and Plaza Athénée.

At the same time, the chairman of the jury, Dominique Fernandez reported that the final list of the hotel winners was approved by majority of 10 members of the jury. In this case, Mr. Fernandez noted that the jury will return to considering the list of candidates in November 2011.

It is worth noting that high status has not received a number of legendary French hotels. So, perhaps the most famous Riviera hotel - Negresco in Nice - failed the classification, as there is no spa complex.

2010 for luxury hotels in France was one of the most successful in the history of luxury tourism. It is expected that in 2011 income of the French luxury hotels will be a record.

Currently, in addition to "palace" hotels, in France there are in total 127 "five star" hotels.
