For the In Hotels company acquisition of Grand Central Hotel Barcelona was the third transaction in the Spanish hotel market. The first hotel was bought by In Hotels in 2006. It was Miro Hotel in Bilbao. It cost the company from 16 to 18 million euros. In February 2011 the company announced about the acquisition of the legendary luxury Selenza de Madrid hotel, which had previously belonged to the other major Spanish hotel company - Grupo Rayet.

All three acquired hotels will be positioned under the new brand Único Hotels, which must emphasize their special status. So, hotels in Barcelona and Madrid are considered to be historic sights. Grand Central Hotel Barcelona was built in 1926, while Selenza de Madrid - in the 19th century.

Grand Central Hotel Barcelona is one of the most famous hotels in the capital of Catalonia. Pau Guardans is a famous person in the Spanish hotel business. Today he owns a construction company, which also includes In Hotels hotel real estate division. Pau Guardans once headed one of the largest hotel chains in Spain - AC Hotels.
