The new trend in Turkey: hotels without alcohol

A new hotel of the Saffee Hotels chain will be opened in mid-June in the Turkish city of Mardin, which is located on the south-east of the country. This is the first hotel of the network, which construction will be completed within five years. The main feature that distinguishes Saffee Hotels from others is full ban on alcohol. Alcohol will be removed not only from mini bars in the rooms, there will be no bars and hotel restaurant menu will not include any alcoholic beverages.

The project was developed by one of the main investors Asim Sahinoglu in an interview for the Haber Turk newspaper said that the idea of new hotels is based on the awareness of harm caused by from alcohol and nicotine, as well as problems with drunken guests. In his opinion, the hotel network Saffee Hotels will be popular among the businesspeople, who will visit the country exclusively for business purposes and wishing to relax in peace and quiet after a working day. Another category of persons, who may be interested in new hotels, are Muslim travelers, who do not drink alcohol at all. Asim Sahinohlu also said that to date has been already signed contracts for the construction of the first four non-alcoholic hotels, which will be located in the cities of Mardin, Izmit, Denizli and Istanbul. The total number of hotels under the project is twenty, each of which will have 100 - 150 rooms.

However, it should be noted that Saffee Hotels is not the first hotel chain with non-alcoholic hotels. In 2008, the Arab company Rotana, operating in the Middle East and North Africa, opened Rayhaan Hotels & Resorts hotel in Mecca near the Muslim holy Kaaba. This hotel is designed for pilgrims performing Hajj and, of course, has strict ban on alcohol.
