A hotel of the Spanish chain - a building in the Czech Republic

Hotels in the Czech Republic are becoming landmarks of modern architecture. NH Olomouc Congress Hotel in Olomouc (Moravia), which is owned by international hotel chain NH Hotels, has been recognized as the best building in the "Building of the Year" competition in the Czech Republic for its avant-garde design. This newly built four-star hotel has been selected among 57 applicants for the prestigious award along with the adjoining building of the sports complex Omega Sports and Health Centre. Both facilities were built and construction by GEMO company.

Members of the jury, which included representatives from the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Czech Republic, as well as such organizations as the Foundation for Architecture and Urban Planning, National Alliance of Business, in a secret ballot made this decision, guided by the impact of the hotel on existing buildings and ambitious plans of its managers to save the environment.

Construction of this hotel marks the end of the fourth and final stage of reconstruction of one of the most famous areas of Olomouc, which was home to the famous Spartakiadas stadium, where during the Communist era were held major sporting and social events. Construction works had been carried out over five years, and the total cost of the project is amounted to about EUR 30 million.

The competition jury was particularly impressed by the attempts of the hotel management of NH Olomouc Congress and the sports complex Omega to revive the area around the legendary stadium. An important factor for giving the Award became a strategic plan for environmental sustainability adopted by the hotel management.

So, the hotel uses energy-saving lighting system equipped with motion and presence sensors, as well as intelligent heating and air conditioning. Here was also introduced a system of water regulation use and pre-treatment of sewage, which helps to minimize adverse impact on the environment.

NH Olomouc Congress hotel is unique for incorporating a part of the former Spartakiadas stadium and offers 137 rooms of different categories, as well as 3 suites. It has a large conference room and several gyms.

NH Hotels is the third largest hotel chain in Europe's, which specializes in business hotels. It includes 394 hotels that are located in 25 countries in Europe, America and Africa, and the total number of rooms in it at the moment is 58,982. Currently another 35 projects for the construction of new hotels are waiting for relization.
