Spanish hotel chain Meliá Hotels plans to open its first hotel in Rome. The opening is scheduled for December 21. The new hotel will be named Gran Meliá Rome.

The opening of the first Gran Meliá hotel in Italy was awaited for seven years until the adoption of the building plan.

Construction works began in 2004. The hotel was decided to be created in the reconstructed orphanage built in 1835.

Meliá Hotels is known primarily for its luxury coastal resort hotels. Gran Meliá is one of the few hotel brands, which includes city hotels in its portfolio.

New Meliá Hotels hotel in Rome will be located in the heart of the Italian capital. From its windows will open the views on the main attraction of the Vatican - St. Peter's Basilica, the Castel Sant'Angelo, the Tiber and the Janiculum hill.

Meliá Hotels already called the anticipated opening of the hotel unique. According to the network representatives, anywhere in the capital of Italy there is no another hotel, which can also offer a splendid view from its windows, two pools and unique five-star service.

Gran Meliá hotel in Rome offers 116 rooms including 39 suites, 48 standard and 29 superior rooms.

The hotel is also able to offer its guests a luxurious garden on its territory, which makes it services even more unique, since most luxurious hotels in the heart of Rome did not have such options in its territory.

To day Meliá Hotels International company is represented in Rome by one hotel - Meliá Roma Aurelia Antica, which offers its services in the medium price segment.
