Melia is preparing for expansion in the UK

Spanish hotel chain Meliá Hotels intends to expand its presence in the UK hotel market over the next 2 years. At the same time the Spaniards do not intend to stop on one city and expect to be presented in several cities of the Albion.

Currently Meliá Hotels representation in Britain is quite modest. The network operates one hotel in London. It is a 4-star Meliá White House designed for 581 rooms and located in Regents Park of the British capital. Meliá Hotels intends to select top locations for its future hotels.

Among the cities, where chain’s hotels will appear in the near future are Birmingham, Manchester, as well as Edinburgh and Dublin in Ireland.

After the rebranding Meliá Hotels started to actively strengthen its presence in foreign markets. Thus, in the U.S. the company is promoting hotel brands in collaboration with one of the giants of the world market - Wyndham company. Not so long ago the company introduced its first hotel in Rome. In total it manages over 350 hotels worldwide.

Anyway, expansion into the UK market will be headed by the new hotel in London, which Meliá Hotels plans to open on the main street of the city - Strand.

The new hotel will be called ME London. It will be designed for 157 rooms and have two restaurants, three bars, including a panoramic bar on the hotel roof.

According to vice-president of Meliá Hotels for global marketing Tony Kortizas, new ME hotel brand is quite individualistic as the client here is surrounded by the best care services. It also includes modern design, hi-tech technologies and gourmet cuisine.

ME London was designed by the British architectural agency Foster & Partners. Its opening is scheduled for June 4, 2012.
