Horní Počaply: Find hotels for your trip
Accommodation in Horní Počaply
Horní Počaply lies on the left bank of the lower Elbe and on the border between the Central Bohemian Region and the Ústí nad Labem Region. When choosing a hotel, you can first consider which local feature matters for your trip: the Elbe and its cycling path, the sports complex, fishing or a visit based on historical interest. These themes offer different points of reference for planning your stay.
Cycling along the Elbe
The cycling path along the Elbe has no inclines and is also suitable for beginner cyclists travelling with their parents. If a shared bike ride is part of your stay, this expressly stated suitability is a concrete point of reference for your planning. The cycling path is therefore a way to combine your trip with an activity by the river.
Sports and getting to the complex
The “Sportovní areál Horní Počaply” sports complex is intended for the general public, regardless of age or athletic ability. The sports facilities include a football pitch, a multi-purpose court, a hockeyball court, and facilities for volleyball, badminton, speed badminton and Ogo. There are also two tennis courts, an indoor table tennis hall, a gymnasium, a skatepark and children's playgrounds. Horní Počaply railway station is about 300 metres from the sports complex. For travellers planning to visit the complex, this approximate distance offers a concrete point of reference.
The cycling path and the sports complex offer different ways to plan your stay: for the cycling path, its level route is an important feature; at the sports complex, you can use the various named facilities as a guide. This makes it possible to weigh up whether a route along the Elbe or particular sports would better suit your stay.
Fishing in the Labe 13 fishing district
Fishing from watercraft is permitted in the Labe 13 fishing district. You need a local or an association fishing licence to fish. Check the fishing rules and the required licence before your trip. If fishing is part of your plans, this lets you take both the permitted type of fishing and the necessary licence into account.
Church, architecture and local history
The “Kostel Nanebevzetí Panny Marie” church stands prominently on a hill above Horní Počaply and is surrounded by a cemetery. It has a single nave, a prism-shaped tower and a rectangular chancel. Its history dates back to a 14th-century Gothic church; it was restored in 1869–1871. The protected church complex includes a mortuary, the perimeter wall with gates, the gravestones of J. Macháček and A. Březina, and a statue of Saint John of Nepomuk. The municipality describes the church as a reminder of the period of the Carthusian monastery Zahrada Panny Marie at Prague's Újezd in the history of Počaply. Those interested in church architecture and local history will find both in one place.
Pálení čarodějnic is also part of the local events calendar. The municipality's 2026 calendar describes the celebration as traditional and names the municipality's firefighters as the organisers.
