Discover Krusovice
Accommodation in Krusovice
Krušovice combines brewery history and Baroque architecture with hiking destinations such as the Louštín hike and the nearby Rabas Mill. This gives you different priorities to consider when planning your trip: brewing and craftsmanship, a Baroque chateau, trail markers and historic sites in the surrounding area. If you are looking for a hotel in Krusovice, you can choose where to stay based on which of these themes you want to shape your visit.
Brewery and Chateau
Beer has been brewed at the Krušovice Brewery since 1581. The Krušovice Brewery Museum exhibits equipment used in hop cultivation and malt production. The exhibition also includes coopers’ and blacksmiths’ tools used to make barrels. The museum therefore features both items related to processing raw materials and tools from the barrel-making trade.
Krušovice Chateau is a large Baroque building with two wings. A Baroque chapel is located in its eastern wing, and brewery buildings adjoin the chateau. The building’s design and chapel give it a distinctive architectural character, while the adjoining brewery buildings provide another architectural connection.
Hikes with Different Trail Conditions
The Louštín hike leads to the 537-metre-high summit and has a total elevation gain of 150 metres. Except for two short sections, it follows marked hiking trails. The route to Rabas Mill follows a different course: apart from a short section at the start, it runs mostly outside marked hiking trails. It follows field and forest tracks, some of which are paved. Trail markings are therefore a clear point of comparison; the mill route also includes partly paved surfaces. The 537 metres refer to the height of the Louštín summit, while 150 metres describe the total ascent of the hike.
Rabas Mill is located near Krušovice and is the birthplace of painter Václav Rabas. It is not open for interior visits and can only be viewed from the outside. Access may change if the mill is restored or opened.
Nature and Traces of the Past
Three English oaks near Krušovice are designated natural monuments. Powerful beech trees grow on Louštín, offering a modest example of the area’s original forests. Nearby, the Baroque Jordánek Chapel stands above a pond hollow fed by a spring.
Louštín is also home to the remains of a prehistoric hillfort. The Louštín hike also passes the ruins of the wall of the former Křivoklát game park. The mountain thus brings together natural features and traces of different historical uses.
Traces Through Time
The dates span several periods: beer has been brewed at the Krušovice Brewery since 1581, and the history of Rabas Mill dates back to the 16th century. The chateau dates from around 1711, and the wall of the former Křivoklát game park dates from the 18th century. The hillfort remains on Louštín are thought to date to the La Tène period. Thus, more precisely dated histories of buildings and places sit alongside an explicitly tentative archaeological classification.
