Discover Bouzov
Accommodation in Bouzov
Bouzov combines a distinctive castle theme with local museum and leisure activities. This gives you a choice between culture and exercise when planning your trip: Bouzov Castle and Muzeum Bouzov offer different perspectives on the town’s history, while the Orienteering Park and named routes provide specific activities. If you are looking for a hotel in Bouzov, this distinction can help you decide what to focus on during your stay.
The castle and its decorated interiors
Bouzov Castle was declared a national cultural monument in 1999. Its romantic interiors are distinguished by elaborate paintings and woodcarvings by local folk artists, as well as contemporary furnishings. The paintings, carvings and furnishings provide a different focus from the machines and tools in the local museum. A climb up the Hláska Tower is offered as a guided tour without commentary. If you plan to include this activity, check the current visitor program in advance.
Museum and other sights
Muzeum Bouzov is located in the courtyard of the Bouzov municipal office. It preserves records of the history of the municipality and the crafts practised by its residents. Visitors can see machines and tools used in households, craft workshops and agriculture. The museum therefore focuses on objects from everyday and professional use—a different perspective from the castle’s artistically decorated interiors. Sights in Bouzov also include Galerie v Podhradà Bouzov and a glass miniature workshop. Galerie v Podhradà Bouzov houses the Trojan Horse, a 15-metre-tall wooden structure.
Finding your way around the park
The Bouzov Orienteering Park is near the castle and has 17 permanent checkpoints. Its permanent infrastructure is designed for use at any time. You can choose between a map with a simple course around Bakule Hill and a map for advanced users, where the order of the checkpoints is unrestricted. The difference is in the type of task: a simple course around the hill or checkpoints in any order. The park can also be used for geocaching, as the coordinates of the checkpoint locations are provided. This lets you navigate the park either by following a course or by using the provided checkpoint coordinates.
Hiking and cycling routes
The Jesenec–Bouzov–BĂlá Lhota tourist route passes through Bouzov. It is 22.5 kilometres long, of moderate difficulty and has an elevation gain of 305 metres. The JavoĹ™ĂÄŤko–JavoĹ™ĂÄŤskĂ© jeskyně–Bouzov tourist route is just under 10 kilometres long. Comparing the routes by length, the first is more than twice as long as the second. The Bouzov–JavoĹ™ĂÄŤko nature trail was newly established in 2014 and is intended for pedestrians and cyclists. For a cycling trip, the Bouzov–Olomouc route is a separate option: it is almost 42 kilometres long, of moderate difficulty, suitable for trekking bikes and has an elevation gain of 271 metres. The stated lengths and elevation gains help you distinguish the routes by the distance you want to cover.
