Tornes: Hiking, Views and Events
Accommodation in Tornes
A trip to Tornes can be planned around different destinations: the Tornes hiking trail, Tornesbolten, the Heimdalstunet Museum or Tornes Dansebandshelg at Torshall. Different details matter for each. On the circular trail, the terrain, moorland and views are important; the 2026 edition of the event features two evenings of music and dancing. Tornes is also served by the Molde–Bud bus route, and there is a trailhead and/or parking area at Torabu.
Hiking and Views in Tornes
The Tornes hiking trail is a circular route behind the residential areas of Tornes. A newer section connects the existing trail with the old farm road Grisholvegen, which farmers in Tornes still use. In the middle of the newest section, benches and seating are located on the hill Storholen. If you plan to take a break there, you can use Storholen as a landmark along this section of the trail.
The trail passes through varied terrain with several small hills and a moorland area behind Grisholvegen. Moorland holes can be very dangerous at times. Check local conditions before setting out and make your decision accordingly.
The Tornes hiking trail offers views of the sea, with the islands of Gossen and Bjørnsund in sight. You can also see the mountains Skalten, Talstadhesten, Lågheia and Høgheia. The viewpoints along the tour therefore include both islands in the sea view and named mountains.
The circular trail and Tornesbolten present different challenges: on the circular trail, the terrain and moorland conditions matter; anyone wishing to climb Tornesbolten should have a good head for heights and a good sense of balance. This comparison can help you take the respective requirements into account when planning your trip.
Getting There and Parking

Local Heritage Museum and Event
The Heimdalstunet Museum in Tornes, in Hustadvika Municipality, is a local heritage museum. For a trip that includes local heritage as well as hiking destinations, the museum is a destination in its own right.
At the 2026 edition of Tornes Dansebandshelg, dance enthusiasts from across the region gather at Torshall in Tornes for two evenings of music and dancing. There is a camping area for motorhomes and caravans directly outside the event venue; all pitches have electricity. Bars offering a good and varied selection of drinks are open throughout the evening, and food and snacks are available to buy. These camping, drink and food offerings apply to the 2026 edition. If the event is relevant to your trip, check the dates for that edition before travelling.
