At municipal level, Calvià is located on the west coast of Mallorca and has a 54 km-long coastline. Across the wider municipality, clear coastal waters, pine-fringed coves, marinas and undeveloped inland areas come together. Calvià therefore presents itself not only as a coastal destination, but as an extensive municipal area with varied landscapes stretching from the sea to quieter inland areas. The individual elements are situated in different spatial contexts: the coast marks the municipality’s maritime edge, while the undeveloped inland areas form a counterpoint. Coves, marinas and islands are part of this coastal landscape, while the nature reserves complement it as protected areas.

Coast and landscape

The municipality of Calvià includes scenic, protected nature reserves covering an area of 225 hectares. Islands lie off the coast, complementing the maritime character of the municipal area. Several beaches are also located in the surroundings of Calvià: Playa Son Caliu, Palmanova Beach, Platja de S'Hostalet and Playa Santa Ponsa are each situated nearby. The beaches mentioned therefore complement the protected natural areas with additional coastal stretches in the surroundings of Calvià.

Culture and discoveries

The “Calvià, Plató de Cine” route includes around ten filming locations and uses QR codes to provide visitors with information about the respective productions. The Fundació Pilar i Joan Miró a Mallorca is also located in the surroundings of Calvià. Son Puig and Bell Agre are likewise nearby. These references to places add stops beyond the municipality’s purely coastal landscape. The route and the three named places each have a different focus: here, film productions and QR codes are at the forefront, while there, individual places in the surrounding area take centre stage.

Active pursuits

A nearby cycling route runs from Paguera towards Calvià along the Serra de Tramuntana and is considered suitable for the whole family. The Mirador de Ricardo Roca is also located in the surroundings of Calvià.
