On Wednesday, January 20, 2010 in Singapore, partial opening of the gaming and entertainment resort World Sentosa is scheduled. Four new hotels in Singapore will open their doors to the first visitors of the complex. Hard Rock Hotel, as well as Hotel MIchael by the architect Michael Graves will be among the new hotels at the resort. Two other hotels - Festive Hotel and Crockfords Tower. In total, 6 hotels will be opened at World Sentosa.

The new gambling complex will be the first casino in Singapore. Its opening was preceded by a long discussion at the national level regarding the reasonability of the construction in Singapore a tourist attraction of such type. Singapore has a reputation of state with strict guidelines in the regulation of public life. Today, there is a number of limitations here, including, for example, a ban on the sale of chewing gum.

Construction of World Sentosa was one of the most ambitious projects for the Asian entertainment industry. The total cost of construction of a new gambling center was about $ 5 billion.

Opening of the first hotels in the resort will take place before the opening of the casino. It is expected that the opening of gambling halls will be held in March 2010. Documents authorizing casino activity are under consideration of the Singapore authorities.

Sentosa – is an island located a few hundred meters from the coast of Singapore. World Sentosa besides gambling plans to offer its guests a number of other entertainments. Thus, in February 2010 a theme park of Universal studio is planned to be opened on Sentosa.

Construction of new hotels and casinos on the island is being implemented is in accordance with the plans of the authorities of Singapore for increase of the tourist weight of the state in the world. Singapore intends to increase the share of income from tourism in the country's budget, increasing it to 1%. In addition, the new tourist complex in Singapore will create 35 000 new jobs. It is expected that t World Sentosa will be visited annually by about 12 million tourists.
