Hollywood inscription is to be turned into a luxury hotel in Los Angeles

The famous Hollywood inscription on a hillside in the vicinity of Los Angeles is today the most recognizable symbol of the American film industry. However, world fame, it seems, is no sufficient reason for preservation of the famous inscription. For the past few weeks in California has been a real battle between land owners and the public. The land on which the famous mark is located now can be given for a luxurious building.

Investors and developers intend to build a quarter of luxury villas in the very place where a symbol of Hollywood is located. In turn, Los Angeles residents in order to preserve the legendary symbol announced a campaign on buy-back of land from developers and have collected for this purpose one and a half million dollars.

However, the decision that could be a compromise for both sides was recently proposed by a Danish architect Kristian Bay Jorgensen. Bay Jorgensen has developed a special project, which involves the transformation of the landmark in the Hollywood Hotel, according to The LA Daily News. Each letter of the famous inscription on the architect's plan will include a room with one of the best view of Los Angeles, which now can be offered by the hotel sector of the capital of cinema.

Suggested by the Danish architect letters will have to be twice bigger the current are. In addition to hotel rooms, the inscription will also include the observation deck and restaurants. The height of each letter of the mark according to the project would be about 30 meters.

The variant proposed by Bay-Jorgensen can be adopted if the city fails to collect the necessary amount to buy the land. At the same time, such a project may turn out very advantageous for Los Angeles, as the city will not only retain the unique character, but will have at its disposal a new and, most importantly, extremely profitable, attraction.
