Hotel in Scotland: windmills spoil the image of the country
One of the most luxurious hotels in Scotland - Gleneagles Estate - is among the first victims in the struggle for alternative energy sources.

Located in the picturesque estate and surrounded by hills, Gleneagles Estate is known in Scotland as one of the best golf hotels in the country. Not long ago here was opened a new golf course - PGA Centenary Course. In 2014 it will host Rydercup - one of the most prestigious golf tournaments in the world.

Gleneagles Estate management is worried about active construction of new wind power plants as local hilly landscapes are key tourist areas, which attract golfers from around the world. And these magnificent Scottish landscapes near Gleneagles Estate suffer from hundreds of new wind turbines that were built here during the past few years.

Gleneagles Estate hotel is probably the most luxurious country hotel in Scotland. It is a member of the well-known association Relais&Chateaux, which unites unique estate hotels around the world.

It should be noted that Gleneagles Estate is not the only luxury golf resort in Scotland, which decided to protest against the active expansion of wind energy. Thus, in late April 2012 Donald Trump, who plans to introduce his luxury golf hotel on July 10, 2012, also opposed the active construction of wind turbines in the northern part of Scotland. The cost of the new Trump's project is estimated at 750 million pounds, so businessman’s nervousness is quite understandable. However, Trump's situation is not so serious as the famous billionaire had provided the hotel outskirts with safe protection after buying in 2006 the lands to the north from Aberdeen for $7.2 million.

Scotland plans to become one of the regional leaders in development of alternative energy sources by 2020. And wind turbines play a leading role in the government's plans.
