The world-famous hotel chain Holiday Inn will soon appear in updated form. Management of InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) Corporation (the owner of Holiday Inn hotel chain) has chosen a new approach to change the style of the chain and update its hotel room capacity.
The changes in style primarily affect the recognizable logo of Holiday Inn. The new logo will be pragmatic and modern. The current logo of Holiday Inn was created in 50-s of the last century by the founder of the hotel chain - Kemmons Wilson.
As to room service and design, emphasis here will be placed on individualization. For example, in the updated hotels, Holiday Inn customers will be able to choose the softness of pillows themselves. Bathrooms in the rooms will be equipped with more modern equipment.
The project is scheduled to be implemented by 2010. According to preliminary estimates it sill take about $ 1 billion to change the style of Holiday Inn hotel chain.
Changes in the company style were not approbated by all the participants of Holiday Inn Hotel Chain. Thus, the Chinese owners of Holiday Inn hotels said that it is inappropriate to conduct such an ambitious project in the conditions of the global financial crisis. According to the plans of IHG management, corporation invests about 6% of total amount into restyling. The rest of the cost should be paid of by local hotel owners. Also, the Chinese members of hotel association claimed that the period until 2010 is too short, and asked the company management to postpone it.
