Hotels in Spain this season look into the future with far more optimism than a year ago. According to all forecasts, 2011 promises to be the year of demand increase for the Spanish tourism. Some indicators directly say about growing demand for Spanish hotels.

According to the Spanish National Institute of Statistics, the occupancy rate for hotels in Spain in the first quarter of 2011 increased by 5% compared with the same period last year. The number of tourist overnight stays in the Spanish hotels rooms rose by 4.9%.

Thus, forecasts that many hotel experts market announced at the beginning of 2011, are now confirmed. As expected, in summer 2011 Spain can get an extra large number of tourists, who initially selected for holidays Egypt, Tunisia and Yemen - countries that were temporarily unavailable for tourism.

Against this background the best situation in North Africa is in Canary Islands hotels. Here occupancy rate in hotels is 76%.

As for the first quarter of 2011, Spanish hotel industry was influenced by German and British tourists. The growing number of Germans, who went on holidays to Spain and chosen local hotels in the first 3 months of 2011, is amounted to 4.6%. The number of British tourists in Spanish hotels increased by 4.9%.

It is worth noting that tourists from Russia also affected tourist industry in Spain. To date, growth in tourist trips of Russian citizens in Spain is about 10-15% compared with last year. Thus, only in January 2011 Spanish Embassy in Moscow had issued over 11,300 visas, which is 24,5% more than last year. It is worth noting that it was backed by the fact that 2011 has been declared the Year of Spain in Russia.
