Kvasiny lies in the valley of the Bělá River. Two distinctive aspects of the town sit side by side as you plan your trip: the river landscape with its bridge and waterworks, and the castle, park and cultural history. If you are looking for a hotel in Kvasiny, you can first decide whether historic architecture, the exhibitions or a specific event date will be the main reason for your trip. Road II/321 from Častolovice to Deštné is also a useful point of reference: it runs through the built-up area of Kvasiny.

River Landscape and Water Engineering

The castle and park ensemble sits on a terrace and a slope above the left bank of the Bělá, between Kvasiny and Solnice. The castle park has a pond and a wooden hut. A preserved stone bridge spans the Bělá, adding a historic structure to the landscape. Dlouhá strouha shows a different way of managing water: the canal begins in Kvasiny on the Bělá and runs along the northwestern edge of the municipality. It is built of large stones and once powered the mills of Solnice. The river, bridge and canal are distinct features: the Bělá shapes the river landscape, the bridge provides a crossing, and Dlouhá strouha represents the former use of water.

Castle, Chapel and Exhibitions

Kvasiny Castle is a Renaissance building dating from the mid-17th century. The castle houses a historical exhibition on the history of the Janeček family and JAWA, as well as a permanent exhibition on dolls, puppet theatre and home theatre. Its cultural themes therefore range from family and technological history to theatre and home theatre. The Chapel of St Anthony of Padua in the castle features trompe-l’œil wall paintings and historic organs. Visitors interested in the castle complex will find several different points of interest here: the Renaissance architecture, the exhibitions and the chapel’s distinctive furnishings.

Festivals and Local Traditions

The Půtovy zámecké slavnosti (Půta Castle Festival) have been held in the castle grounds since 2018; the ninth edition was announced for 2026. The programme for this edition was set to include a medieval battle, a knights’ tournament, a falconry show, a puppet theatre performance and an acrobatic fire show. Zámecká neděle (Castle Sunday), featuring vintage cars and motorcycles, is held regularly at Kvasiny Castle. Its 13th edition, featuring JAWA motorcycles and other historic vehicles, was announced for 14 June 2026. The programmes planned for 2026 have different focuses: medieval festivities at the Půtovy zámecké slavnosti, and historic vehicles at Zámecká neděle. For a specific trip, check the announcement and date of the relevant edition.

The Evening Fairy-Tale Forest is held annually in the castle park, offering children fairy-tale characters, games and activities. A walk through a fairy-tale forest is part of the Children’s Day celebrations. A summer volleyball tournament is also traditionally held on the first weekend of July, and a pilgrimage to St Anthony is another of Kvasiny’s cultural and community traditions. If your plans depend on one of these events, check the latest date announcement before travelling. The first weekend of July provides a general timeframe for the volleyball tournament, but you should still check the specific date.
