For a stay in Pšánky, you can focus on three different themes: the village’s history, its cultural and historical features, and the pond with its fishing conditions.

Village History between Blšany and Petrovičky

The place was originally called Blšany. Its founding is dated to the 12th or 13th century and linked to the landholdings of an estate in Petrovičky. A more precise date comes from an event in 1511: that year, Hašek Zvířetnický of Vantenberk sold the Petrovičky fortress, together with its farmstead and the entire village of Pšánky, to Jan Krupý of Probluz. This places a broad founding date alongside a specific later change of ownership. If you look into the village’s history before your trip, it is easy to distinguish Blšany as its former name and 1511 as a dated event.

Statue, Inscription, and Other Local Features

A sandstone statue of Saint John of Nepomuk stands on a tall, two-part pedestal. Its inscription contains a chronogram dating from 1719. In a chronogram, certain letters, read as numerals, give a year; here, it points to 1719. The same object thus combines its material and structure with a specific date. The statue offers several points of interest for a cultural and historical perspective: the figure depicted, the sandstone, the tall two-part pedestal, and its inscription. Other distinctive features of Pšánky include a bell tower and a depiction of the Crucifixion. Both add to the cultural and historical themes you can consider when choosing where to visit.

Pond, Fish Stock, and Fishing

The pond offers a different focus. It is stocked mainly with carp, tench, grass carp, zander, pike, sturgeon, eels, and whitefish; the mix may change. Fishing is subject to a separate rule: only members of Rybářský spolek Pšánky may fish in the pond. If you plan to fish, confirm the current membership requirements before your trip. The fish stock and fishing rule thus answer two different questions: which species make up the stock and who is allowed to fish.

Children’s fishing competitions are held in Pšánky every year. If you would like to include one in your travel plans, check the specific event dates before your trip.

Cycling and Planning Your Stay

Cycling also has a specific connection to the village. Tourist information last updated in 2011 lists KČT cycling route No. 4293, which passes through Pšánky. Check the signs before setting off. For fishing, membership is decisive; for cycling, it is the route signage—both are specific points to check as you plan.

When choosing where to stay, consider whether the village’s history and its cultural and historical features, or the pond and cycling, better match your interests. The historical information offers a basis for a cultural and historical focus; activities at the pond or on the cycling route are subject to their respective conditions. Consider these differences before choosing a hotel for your travel dates.
