Urbanice offers several starting points for planning a trip: a cycling route passes through the village, historic memorial sites include specific dates and locations, and the cultural centre and playground add to the local amenities. If you are looking for a hotel in Urbanice, you can plan your stay around the things that matter to you: a bike ride, a look at local history, or a specific event date.

Cycling Route and Getting There

On the Po stopách knihoven cycling route, Urbanice lies between Libčany and Praskačka. The route runs from Hvozdnice through Urbanice, Praskačka and Sedlice, continuing on to Žižkovec. The KČT 4199 reaches Urbanice on a local paved road, turns right there onto a local paved road and crosses the railway line. These two details describe different levels of route planning: the sequence of villages shows the wider route, while the road surface, turn and railway crossing refer to the section in Urbanice.

Praskačka railway station is near Urbanice, on the border with the neighbouring municipality and on the Hradec Králové–Velký Osek railway line. If you are planning to travel by train, check connections for your travel dates. During the summer months, cyclists and inline skaters stop at the Na Hřišti restaurant in Urbanice. If you plan to stop there, bear in mind that it is seasonal.

Local History and Memorial Sites

Urbanice is documented in written records from 1465 and 1558. The monument honouring Master Jan Hus was erected at the volunteer fire brigade’s own expense and unveiled on 30 June 1929 at the edge of the municipal forest, on the road to Pašát. Its location links the monument to the road leading towards Pašát.

The sculpture group of the Virgin Mary was erected in 1908. It stands between house No. 33 and house No. 26, opposite house No. 46. The zvonička, a small bell tower, also has its own history: a new zvonička was built in 1929 after the former one, which had stood since 1860, fell into disrepair and was in danger of collapsing. Local lore is associated with Pašát Hill: according to the story, knights led by Petr ze Stěžer are hidden inside it.

Cultural Centre and Playground

The Urbanice cultural centre has a function room where lectures, small concerts and performances are held. If you would like to include an event in your travel plans, the current programme is a useful reference.

The children’s playground has swings, a slide with a play castle, climbing frames, a carousel, a table-tennis table and workout equipment. Before visiting, you can check whether the listed equipment is currently available. Route conditions, train connections and the seasonal opening of Na Hřišti may also affect your plans; check these, along with the events programme, before travelling.
