Bukovina u Čisté is a valley settlement: in its upper part it borders Studenec, while the valley continues east towards the municipality of Dolní Kalná. The surrounding landscape and nature are picturesque and relatively little affected by human intervention. The valley’s shape and the landscape offer two different points of reference for your stay: the village lies in the valley, while its surroundings define its rural character.

Landscape and views

The highest parts of Bukovina u Čisté offer views of the Krkonoše Mountains. The course of the valley and the mountain views thus represent two different aspects of the landscape: one describes the settlement’s layout, while the other is a view associated with the highest parts of the village. The Hekovy lindens form a group of trees. They consist of three large-leaved linden trees with trunk circumferences of 445, 460 and 490 cm. Tree measurements may change slightly over time. The difference between the largest and smallest of the stated trunk circumferences is 45 cm.

Log cabins and settlement character

A number of traditional log cabins have been preserved in Bukovina u Čisté. Two areas south of the stream are particularly noteworthy: there, log cabins and farm buildings blend picturesquely into the landscape, in a way that is now rare and undisturbed. This layout is typical of a settlement in the foothills. What makes it special is not just the individual buildings, but also the way the cabins, farm buildings and terrain come together. Cabin No. 20 is a protected heritage site.

Historical landmarks

The first written mention of Bukovina u Čisté dates to 1386. The village is also home to a statue of Saint John of Nepomuk dating from 1776. The two dates refer to different historical landmarks: 1386 is the year of the village’s first written mention, while 1776 is the date of the statue. If you are interested in the history of the village and its buildings, you can also visit the preserved log cabins and protected Cabin No. 20.
