When looking for a hotel in Koberovy, it is worth distinguishing between the excursions you have planned: the Besedické skály are known for their sandstone labyrinths, Rozhledna Hamštejn for its views, and the Zbirohy Castle Ruins for their architectural history. Route lengths, terrain and steps give you further specific details to help plan your days around your own interests.

Sandstone Labyrinths near Besedice

The Besedické skály form two sandstone labyrinths along the southern and western edges of Mount Sokol: Kalich and Chléviště. The Kalich labyrinth contains five ravines and an altar carved into the rock, with a chalice and the year 1638. Chléviště includes narrow ravines and rock shelters; numerous viewpoints offer views over the Jizera Valley.

The names help distinguish their different features: Kalich combines the ravines with the striking altar, while the rock shelters and views into the valley are also among Chléviště’s defining features. If you would like to include rock formations and viewpoints in your excursion plans, this distinction provides a specific starting point.

Walking Routes

The Kolem Besedických skal circular route is six kilometres long and follows a paved road. Along the way, there are views of Kozákov, the Klokočské skály and Trosky Castle. A separate route description covers the ten-kilometre stretch of the Zlatá stezka Českého ráje: it passes through Koberovy and continues via Hamštejn to Kozákov. The six kilometres refer to a circular route, while the ten kilometres refer to a stretch of a longer route. So the routes differ not only in distance but also in form. Conditions and signposting on the Zlatá stezka may change; check the route before setting out.

Views from Hamštejn

Rozhledna Hamštejn is a 25-metre-high steel-and-wood observation tower. The viewing platform is about 22 metres above ground and can be reached by climbing 121 steps. In good visibility, it offers an almost complete panoramic view of the rock towns of Český ráj and towards Trosky. Two specific features matter for planning: the climb up the steps and the fact that the views depend on visibility. This lets you include the tower in an excursion if views and a clearly defined climb suit your interests.

Castle Ruins and Cycling Routes

The Zbirohy Castle Ruins were built in the 14th century on Zbirohy Rock and are located within the administrative area of Koberovy. The residential tower of the ruins is known by the nickname Kazatelnice. The castle ruins are freely accessible year-round; this access information was confirmed in August 2026. Check it again before your visit.

A marked cycling route passes the chapel in Besedice, goes via Michovka to Zbirohy and continues to the castle ruins there. Another route description covers the marked cycling route through Koberovy: it ends in the Jizera Valley, where it connects to the Greenway Jizera. The two descriptions refer to different landmarks and connections. If you are planning a cycling trip, you can use these destinations to decide which route is relevant to your excursion; also check the current signposting.
