Skuchrow offers several distinct highlights for a stay: local history, viewpoints and trails provide different perspectives on the town and its surroundings. If you are looking for a hotel in Skuchrow, you can plan your trip around whether you are particularly interested in historic buildings, sweeping views or seasonal activities. The places themselves differ, as do the conditions under which individual trails can be used.

Local history in Skuhrov and Huntířov

The Špýchar granary stands in the upper part of Skuhrov. It was built in 1832 to store grain and help prevent shortages. Today, only a corner section of its perimeter walls remains visible. The contrast between the building’s original purpose and what has survived makes the granary a tangible testament to the area’s past: its story is about both storing provisions and what remains of the building.

Another historic site is the Chapel of St. Vojtěch in the lower part of Huntířov, below the fire pond. Its construction was a prerequisite for the village’s first pilgrimage. Craftsmanship and community life also have historic roots here: the first glass-pressing workshop in Huntířov was established in 1865, and the Tyl theatre association was founded there in 1889. These dates mark different chapters in local history, from glassworking to organised cultural life.

Landscape and viewpoints

Protected areas extend into the municipality only in certain places. The southern part of Skuhrov reaches into the Maloskalsko Nature Park; a small part of the Český ráj UNESCO Global Geopark also extends into the municipality. The distant views from several places on the northern side of Skuhrov are a separate feature: from there, you can see the Krkonoše Mountains, part of the Jizera Mountains, Ještěd and Kozákov.

The viewpoint near the cross in the direction of Skuhrov has a covered seating area, an information board about the municipality, descriptive panels about the viewpoint and play equipment for children. If necessary, check the current condition of the facilities before your visit. This makes it easy to distinguish between heading specifically to a viewpoint with seating and information boards and focusing mainly on the distant views from locations on the northern side.

Circular trails and seasonal cross-country ski tracks

A circular trail with viewpoint benches, established in June 2023, passes through Jerdovka above Huntířov, Alšovská Street below the cemetery in Skuhrov, Nácův Hill below the water tower in Skuhrov, and Skřib in Huntířov. These four stops give the circular trail a clear local layout. As local conditions can change, check them before setting out.

There is also a seasonal network of cross-country ski tracks. Its circular route runs through the municipality; routes branch off via Hamrštice in Pěnčín towards Kopanina, Dupanda in Alšovice and Černá Studnice. Grooming and availability vary. If you are planning a trip on the ski tracks, check the conditions for your chosen dates.
