Bestvina: Chapels, Castle and the Doubrava Valley

The cultural exploration of Běstvina begins at the parish church of St. John the Baptist. The building was remodelled in the Baroque style in 1726 from an earlier Gothic structure. The chapel of St. John of Nepomuk contains a wooden group of figures entitled “The Apotheosis of St. John of Nepomuk”. The chapel was probably built around 1720 and has a six-pointed star-shaped floor plan. On the hill known as Vinice, the Chapel of the Virgin Mary dates from the early 18th century. At the eastern edge of Běstvina stands the Chapel of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Virgin Mary.

In the same wooded valley, the river flows through a stony riverbed. Hluboš Pond is suitable for swimming. The Pařížov Dam weir is a cultural monument in a Gothic Revival style.

The Železné hory Protected Landscape Area, the nature park in the wooded Doubrava Valley, the stony riverbed and Hluboš Pond, which is suitable for swimming, each add their own natural highlights.
