Javorník can be explored through two distinct interests: the late Baroque Church of the Holy Trinity and the Českomoravské pomezí nature trail. The first focus leads to the history of the building and the town, while the second explores the historic Bohemian-Moravian border. This offers clear guidance for planning your trip: you can get to know Javorník through its architecture and historical local connections, or set aside time for a walk or bike ride with themed stops.

Church and Local History

The Church of the Holy Trinity was built around 1800 and has a square tower. Its late Baroque classification and approximate construction date provide a precise historical context for the building; the tower is also a clearly identifiable architectural feature. The furnishings of the Chapel of the Holy Trinity date from the first half of the 19th century. The building and the chapel’s furnishings thus offer different ways to explore Javorník’s religious architecture.

Cultural events at the chapel included regularly held Christmas concerts from the early 1990s onward. The town’s history goes back further: in 1501, Javorník had a hereditary magistrate’s office. In 1811, Jan Peschl had a farmstead with the U Jelena coaching inn built on part of a meadow that the Svitavy estate had made available. The word “coaching” refers to unhitching draft animals, placing the inn’s history in the context of travel by horse-drawn vehicles. Alongside religious architecture, an early form of local administration and a historic inn thus emerge as themes in the town’s history.

The Českomoravské pomezí Nature Trail

The Českomoravské pomezí nature trail around Javorník is designed for walkers and cyclists. Near Javorník, it leads toward the historic Bohemian-Moravian border. Its stops explain the history of surveying the regional border and the inscriptions on the boundary stones. The focus is therefore on both the border’s course and its surveying, as well as the markings on the boundary stones. The route combines walking or cycling with a clearly defined historical theme—an ideal guide if you are interested in historical border demarcations.

Routes and Getting Around

A footpath and cycle path runs alongside the main road from Svitavy to Javorník. Road No. 366 also passes through Javorník and serves as a shortcut on the route between Svitavy and Hradec Králové. These are different kinds of route information to help you find your way: a path for walkers and cyclists on the one hand, and a road connection on the other. Several places in Javorník have rest areas with seating, which passing cyclists and walkers can use. You can take both the route and possible breaks into account when planning.
