Lozice: Bridge, Trails and Local Traditions
Accommodation in Lozice
Lozice stretches along both banks of the Novohradka stream. The village offers several distinct themes to help you plan your trip: a stone bridge, notable buildings, routes for cyclists and pedestrians, and local traditions. These highlights can give your stay different emphases, depending on whether you are interested in local history, outdoor activities or events.
Stone Bridge and Buildings
The three-arch stone bridge was built in 1886 and is a protected cultural monument. It may have replaced an older ford across the Novohradka. The Protestant church is also a notable building and is considered an architectural landmark of Lozice. At house no. 16 is a Baroque entrance gate, a registered architectural and sculptural monument. The river crossing, ecclesiastical architecture and Baroque design thus stand side by side as distinct historical features.
Routes on Foot and by Bike
The 9 km circular route “S Divišem za výhledy” is suitable for trekking and cross-country cyclists as well as pedestrians. It passes through Lozice, where walkers can visit the old stone bridge. Cycle route 4119 between Lovětín and Pardubice also passes through the village. Daňkova silácká stezka, also known as Silácká stezka or Daňkova stezka, also runs through Lozice. It has five stations with exercises for balance and the abdominal and arm muscles. The differences are clear when choosing a route: the circular route has a specified length and named user groups, the cycle route connects two places, and Daňkova stezka has five exercise stations.
Playground and Local Events
The modernized children's playground offers a different focus: its facilities include swings, a carousel, a play ship, a slide and climbing equipment; there is also covered seating.
Vrkání and Jidáš are local Easter traditions and part of Lozice's cultural heritage. After a break in 2025, they resumed in 2026, continuing a long-standing custom. In 2026, children taking part in Vrkání walked through the entire village of Lozice at 7:30 a.m., 12:30 p.m. and 6:00 p.m., visiting every house. Each round lasted about an hour. The three rounds spread Vrkání throughout the day, with each round lasting approximately an hour.
During the 2026 Jidáš procession, participants walked through Lozice. In front of the local inn, the straw costume was symbolically burned. If you want to plan your trip around a particular Easter tradition, check the dates in advance. Around All Souls' Day, the Municipality of Lozice and the Volunteer Fire Brigade regularly organize the night game “Bludičkování.” The local traditions can therefore also be distinguished by time of year: Vrkání and Jidáš take place at Easter, while Bludičkování is held around All Souls' Day.
