Městečko Trnávka combines cultural and historical themes with practical options for planning walks and cycling. The ruins of Cimburk Castle, local monuments, the “Po stopách Bílé paní” puzzle trail, and the long-distance Cycle Route 104 each offer a different focus. When planning your stay, you can consider whether you’d prefer to explore the area’s architecture and history or devote part of your itinerary to a route.

Castle Ruins and Cultural Monuments

The ruins of Cimburk Castle are located near Starý Cimburk; the area is designated as an archaeological site. Cimburk stands on a wooded hill above Městečko Trnávka. The stone castle was founded around 1300 by Ctibor z Lipnice. Cimburk thus brings together castle ruins, the area’s archaeological designation, and a specific historical link to the castle’s founding. Its position above the town also connects this theme to the surrounding landscape.

The town is also home to cultural monuments from different periods. The Church of St. James the Greater is a protected registered cultural monument and was remodeled into its present form in 1752. The plague column in Městečko Trnávka is a Baroque sandstone column dating from 1731 and is listed in the Czech register of cultural monuments. It was restored between 2013 and 2016. The church offers a chance to focus on its present form and remodeling, while the column’s design, date of origin, and later restoration can be considered together.

Another historical figure associated with the area is St. John of Nepomuk, whose statue dates from the first third of the 19th century. It was declared a cultural monument in 1994. The statue stands in a small park in the southeast of Městečko Trnávka, below the castle ruins. Its date adds another historical period to the older references to the castle and church. Visitors interested in architectural and local history can include a range of historical themes in their travel plans.

Puzzle Trail and Cycle Route

The educational trail in Městečko Trnávka begins with an introductory information board. The “Po stopách Bílé paní” puzzle trail starts at the trailhead. The route to the finish is about 1.7 kilometers long and takes approximately two hours; you should also allow time for the return journey. It is considered moderately difficult and follows paved paths uphill and downhill. The trail can be walked year-round, although conditions may vary by season. When planning your day, take into account not only the approximate time and distance, but also the nature of the path and the separate return journey.

The long-distance Cycle Route 104 is another option for cyclists. It follows the route Jimramov–Svojanov–Křenov–Městečko Trnávka. For the puzzle trail, the approximate time to reach the finish is the main consideration; for cycling, you can use the route’s long-distance course and named places as a guide. This makes it possible to distinguish between the two route options based on the type of activity you have planned.

Landscape and Getting There

The cadastral area of Městečko Trnávka also includes Bohdalov–Hartinkov Nature Park. This makes a landscape area part of the town’s wider setting, alongside its architectural and historical attractions. If you’d like to include both cultural history and landscape in your plans, you can treat this as a separate focus alongside the individual monuments.

For rail travel, Městečko Trnávka station is a useful landmark: it is on Line 017 between Česká Třebová and Dzbel. Check the timetable for your travel date, as services and timetable patterns can change. This will help you coordinate your rail journey with your stay while keeping your plans for the trails and their return routes in mind.
