Historic buildings and marked routes give Křenov several concrete points of interest for a stay. Baroque church art shapes part of the townscape; Křenovské hradisko points to a much earlier history of settlement. The hiking routes also differ: they start or end in Křenov, vary in approximate length, and use different trail markings. If you are looking for a hotel for a trip to Křenov, you can choose the town based on these cultural and landscape interests.

Baroque churches and local history

The Chapel of St. Isidore was built in 1707 at the initiative of the local parish priest and patron Johann Benedikt Schindler. Its richly decorated interior features acanthus motifs in the stucco and figurative wall paintings. Restoration of the sculptural and painted decoration was completed in 2015.

A parish church dating from 1729 is preserved in Křenov. Together with the parish church, the rectory forms a significant urban ensemble. The Baroque rectory is an architecturally valuable, two-storey rural building with a mansard roof; it was built in the village square. A statue of the Immaculata, dating from before 1734, stands beside the rectory.

The Baroque Church of St. John the Baptist is a defining landmark of Křenov; its furnishings date from 1730. A stone pillory dating from 1732 is also preserved in the centre. The Baroque sculptural group includes the Virgin Mary, St. John the Baptist, and St. John of Nepomuk. The group was created in 1727 and added to the list of cultural monuments in 1964.

An early medieval fortified settlement

Křenovské hradisko dates back to long before the Baroque period. It is an early medieval fortified settlement on a low hill. Its fortifications enclose an area of about 20 hectares; the site extends across several municipalities, including Křenov. Its size and cross-municipal extent set this archaeological site apart from the individual churches and buildings in the town.

The Fara Křenov Museum offers another way to explore history. It presents the life, culture, and work of a clergyman in a small town from the 18th century to the present day. This broad time span complements the architectural history with a social perspective and also draws attention to a clergyman’s everyday life.

Routes in different directions

A hiking route about 9.5 kilometres long starts in Křenov and leads to Jevíčko. It follows the yellow trail markings along Křenovské hradisko in the direction of Mařín. A hiking route from Moravská Třebová to Křenov is about 13 kilometres long and follows red trail markings past Slídový vrch and Arnoštovský vrch. If you want to start in Křenov, the route to Jevíčko is the shorter of the two hikes described; the longer one starts in Moravská Třebová and ends in Křenov.

A route about 14 kilometres long leads from Hřebeč to Křenov. It shares sections with cycle route 4029 before descending to Křenov. The Sedmikráska educational trail offers a different experience: its interactive quiz is completed directly on a smartphone.

The local landscape also has specific points of interest. The Malonínský potok flows southwest of Křenov; the man-made Obecní rybník lies along its course.
