Třemošnice offers a range of options for planning a trip: a museum with tools from the lime works, castle ruins with a view, nature reserves, and hiking and cycling routes. The places and routes below can help you tailor your stay to your personal interests.

Culture and History in Třemošnice

At the Berlova vápenka Museum, visitors can read information panels, view display cases and handle tools used at the lime works. This puts both information and objects from the work at the lime works at the centre of the experience. Guided tours for groups can also be arranged outside opening hours. Confirm the booking details before your trip.

The Městská galerie Třemošnice offers a different cultural focus. It was created by converting the attic rooms of a former school building and began operating on 26 June 1999. Its exhibitions change monthly. While the museum connects visitors with the lime works through tools and information panels, the gallery offers changing exhibitions as a distinct way to experience culture in Třemošnice.

Lichnice and the Protected Landscape

Lichnice is a 13th-century castle ruin built by Smil Světlický on a rocky ridge in Podhradí near Třemošnice. The Milada observation tower is located in one of its towers. Lichnice offers views over the Čáslav Basin. Here, the medieval castle complex and views across the landscape come together. Below Lichnice, Lovětínská rokle is also part of the Lichnice–Kaňkovy hory National Nature Reserve.

Educational Trails and Routes

The Vlastivědná stezka Krajem Železných hor trail runs through the Železné hory Protected Landscape Area and the Lichnice–Kaňkovy hory National Nature Reserve. The educational trail is 22 kilometres long and has 15 stops, including Lichnice and Třemošnice. The Lichnice–Kaňkovy hory forest educational trail is shorter: it is three kilometres long and runs from Třemošnice via Nouzov to Hedvikov. Information panels along the entire route show the animals and plants found there; the trail follows paved type 2L forest roads.

The Třemošnice forest educational trail also offers its own connection to the landscape: part of it runs through the Hedvikovská rokle gorge alongside the Zlatý potok stream. The trail descriptions therefore differ both in length and in the stops and nature features mentioned.

Two moderately difficult cycling routes are designated. The 28.5-kilometre cycle route 4127 runs from Třemošnice via Prachovice and Heřmanův Městec to Kokešov. Cycle route 4233 connects Třemošnice and Pařížov along a five-kilometre link. Both are rated moderately difficult; their lengths distinguish the shorter link from the longer route.

More Places and Reasons to Visit

The Park Božího Milosrdenství in Třemošnice is named after a church that was never built. A stone cross stands at the site of the unrealised religious complex, and a path from there leads to a wooden cross. These park features give the place its own historical connection, even though the church was never built.

Motocross races for all age groups are held at the Kubíkovy Duby motocross site in Třemošnice. As event dates may change, check the latest dates before your trip. If you’re looking for a hotel in Třemošnice, you can first plan your stay around your main interest: the castle and culture, nature trails, cycling or a specific event date.
