Cetkovice: Hiking Routes and Local History
Accommodation in Cetkovice
Cetkovice lies in the eastern part of Malá Haná; the forests of the Drahanská vrchovina lie to the southeast of the village. During your stay, you can combine the surrounding landscape with local activities and historical sites. Two routes differ in length, difficulty and approximate duration. There is also Farma CH, a riding stable, as well as church and railway history.
Routes by Time and Difficulty
The “Cesta přírodou pod Borotínem” route is a moderately difficult 11-km route for hiking, cycling or using a stroller. It takes about three hours. Its length, moderate difficulty and approximate duration make it easy to assess.
The “Za cetkovickými kříži” route is rated easy. It is 6.7 kilometers long, takes about one hour and 50 minutes, and can be enjoyed on foot, by bike or with a stroller. In direct comparison, it is 4.3 kilometers shorter than the 11-km route; the estimated time is also about an hour and ten minutes less. The two routes therefore offer different time frames and difficulty levels, while their stated ways of getting around are the same.
On the walk, eleven crosses in the area around Cetkovice serve as waymarkers. They are also examples of small-scale religious architecture and give the “Za cetkovickými kříži” route its cultural and historical significance.
Horse Riding and Historic Buildings
Farma CH is a riding stable in the municipality of Cetkovice. Activities offered there include horse breeding, riding lessons and recreational rides for children and adults. The riding offer adds a distinct focus to the two routes. If riding is one of your interests, Farma CH is a specific place to consider when planning your trip.
The present-day parish church of Saints Philip and James in Cetkovice was built in 1699–1700. A stone baptismal font dating from 1591 is still preserved in the church. The font therefore predates the construction of the present church. Both dates relate to specific elements of the village’s history: the surviving baptismal font and the church building.
Fara Cetkovice also has several historical features. It was originally built as a summer residence in 1762 and is listed as an immovable cultural monument under number 0422. The coat of arms of Pavel Ferdinand Václavík is still preserved at the entrance. Its original function, protected-monument status and coat of arms represent different aspects of its history.
The Former Railway Stop
The former Cetkovice railway stop was built in 1899. It was part of the local railway line and served passenger traffic for the municipality and its surroundings. It is no longer in operation. Its significance to a stay in the area therefore lies in the village’s railway history: it recalls former passenger services, but is no longer a stop today.
