Jedovnice offers several different highlights to consider when planning your trip: Olšovec pond, walks in the surrounding countryside, a hiking trail to Rudické propadání and Kolíbky, and local history. This lets you decide whether to focus on activities by the water, trails in nature or cultural interests. Each option has different practical considerations that are important for your plans.

Olšovec: trail base, beach and fish harvest

Olšovec pond covers 42 hectares. Its dam is 8 metres high and 640 metres long along the crest. The SINGLETRAIL Moravský kras has its base right by the pond. Olšovec therefore offers a connection to cycling, as well as other seasonal attractions at the beach.

The beach has a boat and pedal boat rental service, as well as slides. These facilities may change. When choosing what to do, it is helpful to distinguish between the trail base by the pond and the beach facilities: they offer different experiences, even though both are connected to Olšovec.

The fish harvest is another way to experience the pond. Visitors can watch the process and the fishers at work from the viewing bastion. If you plan to see it, check the dates before your trip; specific arrangements may change. This is different from the seasonal facilities at the beach: the focus here is on a particular event.

Walks and trails in the surrounding area

You can start the route to Rudické propadání and Kolíbky in Jedovnice itself, following the green-marked hiking trail. Along the way, it passes the remains of the former Salmová huť. Iron ore was processed at the hut in the 18th century. The route thus takes you to a named destination and offers a connection to the area's former use.

Walks in the countryside around the Budkovan and Dubový ponds are also recommended. This is a different focus from the route to Rudické propadání and Kolíbky: here, the emphasis is on walks in the area of the two ponds. Near Jedovnice, the Jedovnický potok stream forms the Rudické propadání–Býčí skála cave system, described as the second-largest cave system in the Moravian Karst. This allows you to distinguish local walking opportunities from the geological features of the Moravian Karst, without treating the ponds and the cave system as the same destination.

Church of St Peter and St Paul

The present-day Church of St Peter and St Paul was built between 1783 and 1785. However, the foundations of the tower date back to 1681. The different dates indicate two building phases: the foundations predate the present-day church. Inside, there is also an altar by Mikuláš Medek and Jan Koblasa. The interior’s artistic design dates from the 1960s, adding a later artistic element to the building’s older history.

Outside of services, the church can be visited by arrangement with the spiritual administrator. If you plan a visit, arrange it in advance. This requirement distinguishes a church visit from nature trails and is particularly relevant if you intend to include the visit as a fixed part of your trip.
