Moravský Krumlov offers several different ways to plan your trip: castle history, the town museum, a nature reserve and leisure activities. If you are looking for a hotel in Moravský Krumlov, you can tailor your stay to these interests. For some visits, specific timing and access conditions also apply.

The Castle, the Fortress and the Town’s Jewish History

Moravský Krumlov Castle stands on the site of an early Gothic fortress, recorded as belonging to the Lords of Obřany in 1289. Between 1557 and 1562, it was transformed into an extensive Renaissance castle; the main construction work followed a design by the Italian master builder Leonardo Gara da Bissono. The dates refer to different historical phases: 1289 concerns the fortress and its documented ownership, while 1557–1562 refers to the later rebuilding. At the end of the castle park is the old Jewish cemetery, which attests to the rich history of the Jewish community in Moravský Krumlov. The castle’s architectural history and the history of the Jewish community thus emerge as distinct cultural and historical themes.

Town Museum: Exhibitions, Lectures and Reading Room

The town museum organizes exhibitions, as well as lectures and educational programs for schools and the public. It also runs a reading room for the general public and specialists, and maintains a reference library specializing in archaeology. The offerings vary in format: exhibitions and events are complemented by opportunities for focused reading. Visits outside regular opening hours are possible by prior arrangement. If you are interested in the reading room or library, you will find an explicitly archaeological focus there.

Nature Reserve and Cycle Route

The Krumlovsko-Rokytenské slepence National Nature Reserve extends across the city area and has been part of the Natura 2000 network since 2005. Cycle Route No. 5006 offers another way to explore the surrounding area. It connects Znojmo with Moravský Krumlov and Jevišovice and is suitable for all types of bicycles. The two details have different points of focus: the reserve represents a protected-area connection with the city area, while the cycle route is a named link between three places. For trip planning, it is advisable to check the current route.

Swimming Pool, Chapel and Visitor Information

Koupaliště Moravský Krumlov includes a swimming pool, a children’s pool with a water castle, a round whirlpool pool, and areas for sunbathing and relaxation. The swimming pool measures 25 × 10.5 metres and is 1.1 to 1.6 metres deep. These measurements apply to this pool; the children’s pool, whirlpool pool and relaxation areas are additional parts of the facility. This makes it easy to distinguish the specifically described areas when planning leisure activities.
