Teterow offers several reasons to stay: a well-preserved medieval town center, the historic Burgwall Island in Lake Teterow, and the Bergring grass racing track. If you are looking for a hotel in Teterow, you can plan your stay around whether town history, nature by the lake, or the paths and sports facilities should be the main focus.

Island and Lake

Visitors can reach Burgwall Island in Lake Teterow by ferry or by the “Regulus” launch. The crossing is a planning consideration in its own right. Before visiting the island, check the latest information about the crossing and allow for it in your day’s schedule.

NaturBad Teterow on Lake Teterow has a sandy beach, a sunbathing lawn and a beach volleyball court. If you plan to visit, these facilities offer concrete ways to shape your time by the lake: they include swimming and sunbathing areas as well as a sports facility. Check seasonal operating information before your visit.

Lake Teterow lies northeast of the town in the Mecklenburg Switzerland and Lake Kummerow Nature Park. Its western shore is part of the Binsenbrink Nature Reserve. These two details describe different aspects of the landscape: the location describes the lake in relation to Teterow, while the nature reserve designation applies specifically to the western shore.

Town History and Culture

Construction of Teterow’s Evangelical Lutheran Town Church began in 1215. Because it features two different architectural styles, it was not consecrated until more than 200 years later. The Pike Fountain was inaugurated in 1914 and draws on the legend of the pike. The church thus represents a long construction period, while the fountain—with its inauguration year and legend—offers a different perspective on Teterow’s history.

Exhibitions at the Bergring Museum Teterow provide information about the history of the Bergring, regional railway history and the town’s school history. Groups can register with the Teterow Town Museum year-round for guided museum tours, events and projects. These formats can also be arranged individually, so groups need not limit their plans to guided museum tours.

Paths and Bergring

The forest discovery trail in the Teterower Heidberge Forest Discovery Area is divided into two sections. The main trail, “Forest of Talents,” is 1.6 kilometers long and includes nine stations. The Philosopher’s Path is just under one kilometer long and has five additional stations. You can therefore compare the sections both by length and by number of stations: the Philosopher’s Path is the shorter option, and the main trail is the longer one.

As a grass racing track, the Bergring is one of Teterow’s sporting highlights. The Bergring course is 1,877 meters long and has gradients of up to 16 percent. Two different measurements are relevant here: the length describes the extent of the course, while the gradient figure gives its maximum value. “Up to 16 percent” does not mean that every gradient along the course is that steep.
