When you choose Oberraden as a destination, hiking, scenery and local history are the main themes. The two moderate routes, O1 and O2, offer a clear comparison in terms of length and route. Other highlights include the Aubach, a viewpoint overlooking the town and historical references to the former water supply.

Hiking on routes O1 and O2

O1 is a moderate hike covering 6.5 kilometres. O2 is also moderate, measures 4.1 kilometres and follows a circular route. This makes O2 the shorter option, while O1 covers a longer distance. The O2 loop starts in Oberraden at the car park opposite Haus Waldblick. Along the way, it offers distant views and changing scenery of meadows, fields and woodland. Sturdy footwear is sufficient for O2; there are several places along the route to stop for refreshments.

Check the route before setting out: For O1, check the tour planner for possible temporary diversions; temporary changes or closures are possible on O2. As a nearby addition, O2 leads to StraĂźenhaus, where you can include the arboretum in your hike.

The Aubach, views and getting your bearings

The Aubach is 15.2 kilometres long in total and runs alongside Oberraden. Above the Jagdhaus, the “Dorfblick” panoramic swing offers views over Oberraden. The interactive tour of Oberraden and Niederraden starts at a panoramic information board overlooking both settlements; the virtual tour also shows a school garden. Together, the stream, viewpoint and tour offer different ways to get to know the town and its surroundings.

Local history and traditions

The Burhäuschen was built in 1948 as a pump house with an underground reservoir. The Aubach spring “Bur” was once a well and served as Oberraden’s water supply. The traditional Kirmes fair draws visitors to the festival grounds at the entrance to the village. If you would like to combine your stay with this event, check the announced dates in advance.
