Elskop: Village Street, Marsh Farms and Marshland
Accommodation in Elskop
Elskop between Village Street and Marshland
Elskop is shaped by an unusual one-sided village street: large agricultural buildings stand on the north side, while fields lie to the south. The clear contrast between the farm side and the open field side makes the village layout a distinctive point of reference for exploring the area. Elskop is also connected to the Krempermarsch, the marshland between the Stör and Krückau rivers. The Krempermarsch was drained and resettled in the 13th century. The area thus combines an elongated village layout with a landscape that has a history of its own.
Historic Buildings
Elskop’s listed buildings include a traditional hall house at Altendeich 104 and a barn with a thatched roof at Dorfstraße 5. Both buildings offer visitors interested in rural architecture tangible points of reference. Heritage listings may be updated by the responsible authority.
