Treschè Conca: Hiking Trails, History and Winter Activities
Accommodation in Tresché Conca
Treschè Conca appeals to travelers with different interests: hiking trails, historical traces, farming activities and winter offerings each provide a different focus. If you are looking for a hotel, the reason for your trip may shape your choice of destination. Would you like your stay to focus primarily on outdoor activities, history, rural work or a seasonal offering? The following features of the area can help you match these interests with specific routes and activities.
Getting your bearings and finding your way
Coming from Vicenza, take the Statale del “Costo” to reach Treschè Conca, the first village on the Asiago Plateau. From the church in Treschè Conca, a five-kilometer paved road leads to Forte Corbin. This gives you both directions for reaching the plateau and a specific road connection between the church and the fort.
The Treschè Conca route map includes eight marked hiking trails, classified by difficulty and walking time. These are two different selection criteria: walking time indicates how long a route takes, while difficulty addresses a separate question. You can consider both details side by side instead of inferring one from the other.
One specifically named trail is CAI Route 804. It runs from the church in Treschè Conca via Contrada Ostarelli, Contrada Dosso and Contrada Mosca to Forte Corbin. The sequence of contrade gives the route a clear progression to its destination.
The Narciso route also has a distinctive feature: grassy sections are bordered by stone slabs. In Cimbrian, these are called “Laste” or “Stoan Platten”. The names connect a visible feature of the trail with the local terms used for it.
Historical traces at Forte Corbin
The Forte Corbin–Monte Cengio memorial route follows the chronology of events from 1915 to 1916. For the most part, it runs along military roads and mule tracks built before and during the First World War. The route description thus brings together the sequence of events and the history of the older paths. Forte Corbin was restored and converted into a museum by its owners.
The Forte di Punta Corbin Military History Museum preserves numerous relics from the First World War. These include the fort’s original keys, a fragment of the original dome and many soldiers’ belongings. The collection has a different focus from the memorial route: here, specific relics take center stage, while the route highlights the chronology and the historical types of paths.
Farming and winter activities
Il Cason delle Meraviglie adds another focus. The educational farm in Treschè Conca is housed in a renovated malga dating from the early 20th century. The “Un giorno da contadino” workshop includes milking by hand and making cheese and butter in the traditional way. The workshop therefore focuses on both farming and traditional food production.
In winter, Treschè Conca offers the “tappeto magico” just a few meters from the town center. The conveyor belt is also suitable for small children and allows them to go downhill on sleds and bobsleds, as well as try skiing for the first time. It is a seasonal offering with a range of activities, from sledding to first experiences on skis.
Deer (Capreolus capreolus) can also be spotted in Treschè Conca.
